MILAN BUILDINGS AND MONUMENTS

Buildings and monuments that bear witness to the history of this city, economic and cultural center of Italy...

CASTLE SFORZESCO
castello

The original dates from 1450, built by Duke Francesco Sforza.
Over the centuries it underwent various transformations, sometimes due to particular vicissitudes that would seriously undermine the structure.
Finally, toward the end of 1800 we carried out a substantial restoration of the entire complex.
The Castello Sforzesco is a majestic building, which contains within it wonderful Gothic-Renaissance courtyards and spectacular rooms, designed by Leonardo, and frescos painted by master painters such as Bramante, called the court of Ludovico il Moro.
The castle is now home to major art exhibitions.

MONUMENTAL CEMETERY
monumentale

This impressive cemetery was built around 1860 using a Lombard style and decidedly Byzantine forms.
Among the statues, chapels and other works of art, there are the graves of some of the most famous people of Italian and European culture including Alessandro Manzoni, Salvatore Quasimodo, Eugenio Montale and Maria Callas.

ROYAL PALACE
palazzo

Located in Piazza Duomo, the Palazzo Reale is a very old building, which dates back to 1100 and through the centuries was home of the powerful lords of Milan, the Visconti Sforza, by the Spanish to Austrian rule. Inside today's temporary art exhibitions are hosted.
